Taking to Instagram on Monday night, 2022 Australian Open Doubles winner
Nick Kyrgios showed off the linework for his newest tattoo, a full back piece featuring Gengar, Mewtwo, Lapras, Gyarados, Snorlax, Dragonite and more, with a ready-for-action Blastoise as the centerpiece. The tattoo was completed by a team of five artists at Ganga Tattoo Studio in Los Angeles in the impressively quick time of a single hour, and was originally designed by Kyrgios’ brother
Alexi Bouras.
Kyrgios has not been shy about his fanaticism of the Pokémon franchise, especially on Twitter, where he follows Pokémon UNITE Championship Series esports and seeks out competition for himself on Pokémon UNITE. While recovering from knee surgery in January, Kyrgios’ manager Daniel Horsfall stated to journalists from
The Age that the champ’s plan for recovery included “eat[ing] delicious food and play[ing] a lot of Pokémon”. Kyrgios also recently used his Instagram to flaunt custom Nike sneakers, featuring some tennis-playing Pokémon and his name in the iconic blue and yellow typeface.
While Nick Kyrgios has had to withdraw from recent competitions due to injuries, including this year's Australian Open and Wimbledon, he has expressed he does plan to return to tennis via his Twitter.
