Niantic last week announced a new type of event in Pokémon GO: the Hatch Day event. Similar to several other Pokémon GO event types, each Hatch Day event will focus around specific featured Pokémon, with Trainers having a greatly increased chance of hatching the featured Pokémon from 2 km Eggs, as well as an increased chance of hatching the Shiny variant. The first Hatch Day event, featuring the Emanation Pokémon Riolu, is being held this coming weekend on July 22nd, between 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time.

In addition to the increase hatch and shiny rates, the following bonuses will be active during the event hours:
  • 2 km Eggs will drop much more frequently from PokéStops
  • 2× Stardust from hatching Eggs
Free event-exclusive Timed Research will also be available, rewarding Trainers with a Super Incubator when completed. The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before 5:00pm local time on the event date.

Trainers will also be able to spin Photo Discs at PokéStops during the event to receive event-themed Field Research tasks. Trainers who complete these tasks will receive candy, Stardust, Berries, Great Balls, and XP as rewards.
